Planning & Permitting

The City of Longmont, in order to streamline the development review and building permit processes, has located all staff that provides development review and permit processing in one convenient place. The Development Services Center (DSC), located at 385 Kimbark, is home to the Economic Development divisions that pertain to development and building, including Planning, Development Services, Economic Vitality and Redevelopment/Urban Renewal.

Public Works, Planning and Building Inspection are physically located at the DSC and our partners at Economic Development have weekly office hours for customer convenience. Check out the Development Services Center page for office hours and related links.

Development Services is able to provide expedited review for projects that bring primary jobs, commercial/retail opportunities and affordable housing to the City. As part of the City’s review process, a project manager and review team is assigned to the applicant at the initial pre-application meeting and that team remains engaged through the entire approval and permitting process. This approach is designed to provide effective solutions for a project’s success and assist in navigating City processes.
