Longmont is an ideal location for data centers for a variety of reasons.  First, because we are located along the Colorado Front Range, our disaster exposure is very low. Second, our cost of electricity is among the lowest in the nation, with prices 35% below other areas in the region. Longmont also has the electrical capacity to meet the needs of data centers of all sizes.  Third, with the highest educated population in the country and a concentration of engineering talent, we have the workforce that data centers need.  Fourth, the general business costs in Longmont are substantially lower than many communities on either US coast.  Finally, we are already home to 4 data centers including American Honda Corporation, Xilinx, West Corporation, and Ongoing Operations.
