Existing Longmont Industries
Colorado biotech companies, aerospace companies and other Longmont industries can attest to the dedicated efforts of the Longmont Economic Council. For twenty-eight years LAEC has been serving the Colorado labor force and primary employers in their business endeavors.
From Colorado biotech companies to semiconductor manufacturing, Longmont industries, and the Colorado labor force that staffs them, are prospering. See below for more information on existing Longmont industries and the Colorado labor force.
Colorado Biotech Companies Of all the Longmont industries, Colorado biotech companies get the most national attention. And, with seventy-six percent of Colorado biotech companies’ workforce located in Boulder County, it’s no wonder. From Amgen, to Array BioPharma, to Covidien, Boulder County is home to some of the largest and most successful Colorado biotech companies and the largest concentration of a biotech-specialized Colorado labor force.
Colorado Aerospace Companies Though Colorado biotech companies steal the spotlight, other Longmont industries are also growing and succeeding. Companies such as DigitalGlobe, Redstone Aerospace and ABSL Space Products confer a strong aerospace presence and contribute to the 177,000 direct an indirect aerospace jobs available to the Colorado labor force throughout the State, which boasts the third largest private sector aerospace industry in the nation.
Colorado Software & IT Companies With twelve companies throughout the Longmont area, software and IT joins Colorado biotech companies and the aerospace industry as established Longmont industries. Over nine-hundred members of the Longmont Colorado labor force are employed by software and IT companies—the highest concentration of software employees per-capita in the United States.*
In addition, the Economic Council partners with the Colorado Software and Internet Association (CSIA) to determine and support industry needs on an ongoing basis, making Longmont, Colorado a logical choice for software companies’ relocation.
Semiconductor Design Despite the difficult economic downturn, which hit the semiconductor industry hard, companies in Longmont, Colorado continue to show important signs of growth. The proximity of Longmont’s data storage cluster, the innovation and contribution of our Colorado labor force and our business-friendly government all contribute to the relocation of semiconductor design companies, and their ability to grow and succeed. This cluster has twelve companies, including Xilinx, Intel, Marvell and Texas Instruments, and continues to grow.
