John is a Certified Economic Developer (CED) with more than 30 years of economic development experience. John holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Mississippi and has worked in the states of Louisiana, Wyoming and Colorado. Prior to joining the Longmont Area Economic Council in March of 1999, John spent seven years as the Vice President/CIO of Adams County (Colorado) Economic Development. He has been involved in numerous projects bringing thousands of jobs and millions in capital investment to the areas he has served over his career.
He is Past Chair of the Metro Denver Network (MDN) Professionals, Current Chair of the Economic Developerment Council of Colorado (for the 2nd time) and a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). He is a past Chair of Workforce Boulder County, a former Board member of the Colorado Software and Colorado Photonics Associations and was a member of the Metro Denver WIRED Leadership Council. He is also a member of the Longmont Rotary Club.
John was chosen Board Member of the Year in 1995 by the Adams County Private Industry Council, Economic Developer of the Year for 2002 by the Economic Developers' Council of Colorado, Colorado's Financial Services Advocate for 2004 by the US Small Business Administration and received the Business Partnership award in 2006 from the Colorado Workforce Council.
Wendi Nafziger is a Certified Economic Developer (CED) that has worked in the development field for 30 years. Wendi graduated from Skyline High School in Longmont and participated in the Career Development Center’s Business Program throughout high school. She completed her basic economic development course in 1995. Wendi joined the Longmont Area Economic Council in 1982 as administrative assistant and was promoted to Vice President in 1995. She was the 2001 president of the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame, is a member and treasurer of the Longmont Twin Peaks Rotary, a board member and Treasurer of Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley, a former board member and treasurer of the Economic Development Council of Colorado and a member of the International Economic Development Council.
In 1997 Wendi was recognized as Business Partner of the Year by the St. Vrain Valley School District, was given the 2001 Affiliate of the Year by the Longmont Association of Realtors, and was Citizen of the Year in 2005. In 2005 Wendi was presented with the "Women of Distinction Award" by the Girl Scouts; and in 2009 she received the "LeMoyne Monson 4 Way Test Award" from Twin Peaks Rotary. Most recently she was awarded "Economic Development Achievement Award" by the Economic Development Council of Colorado.
Donna is a long time resident of Longmont and attended Niwot High School. She came to the Economic Council from the Boulder City Attorney’s Office in 2000 and has worked in a number of private sector companies.
Leona Stoecker is a former Mayor of Longmont and former Board Member for the Economic Council. She describes herself as a citizen Diplomat and was an obvious choice as Membership Director. She has won numerous awards for her public service and is active with many non-profit organizations in the community. Leona is well respected for her passion in making Longmont a better community and is a tireless volunteer in that capacity.
